Letterpress Book
Created at the Lead Graffiti Letterpress Studio in Newark Delaware by John Francis Bastos, Mary Kate Henry, Steven William Lewis, Erika Morillo, Samantha Siermine, and Jamie VanGelder, under the guidance of Ray Nichols and Tray Nichols. As Milestones Go is an accordion-folded book (called a "meander" book). Each spread in the book was designed and typeset by hand. The book was printed using a hand-cranked Vandercook SP15 for the book's cover and an automatic Vandercook Universal III for the book's text block. The text block was printed as a broadside (printed on one side only) on a 16" x 20" sheet, then folded and torn to create the final block. A copy of the book now resides in the Rare Book & Special Collections Division of the Library of Congress, Special Collections at the University of Delaware Library. Arcadia University, the Art Institute of Philadelphia, Kutztown University, and Moore College of Art & Design each also house one copy on permanent collection in their respective libraries.
